All We Need to Know: Ford Ranger

At Mohawk Ford in Hamilton, we know our drivers enjoy both in-city luxury and off-road durability. They want a truck with no performance limits. Since it’s Built Ford Tough, the Ranger does not disappoint.

Performance

With four modes included within the Advanced Terrain Technology, you can confidently go whenever and wherever you want to!

  • Normal Mode is for two-wheel-drive operation on terrain that poses no surprises.
  • Grass/Gravel/Snow mode improves stability in low-traction situations.
  • Mud/Ruts mode sends maximum torque to all four wheels.
  • Sand Mode allows for slippage when you are on soft ground. No more spinning those tires!

Rest assured, the Ford Ranger can get you to all your favorite destinations. If you carry gear, you should know the Ranger has an impressive 7500lb tow rating and a best-in-class maximum 1860lb payload rating. The Ranger is strong and tough enough to move.

The class-exclusive 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission, featuring Ford patented technology, optimizes gear progressions and delivers smooth shifting. Features include wide-span gear spacing coupled with drag-reduction actions, plus three overdrive gears. Pairing SelectShift technology with the 2.3L EcoBoost engine makes the Ranger something you need to feel to believe.

Interior Features

Drivers are always impressed that even though the Ford is rough and rugged, the interiors are luxurious and comfortable.

Luxury features that are only available options on other vehicles come standard on almost all our makes and models. The 8” LCD Capacitive Touchscreen in Center Stack with SYNC 3 eases navigation and also provides entertainment and safety alerts.

Automatic high beams are another fan favorite. Using new technology to sense oncoming headlights, the automatic high beams dim as a courtesy, and then automatically brighten again once oncoming light is no longer detected. It seems so simple, but the convenience cannot be overstated.

Along with cruise control, a locking glove box, and a dual-note horn, Ford thought of everything to make your ride more convenient and comfortable.

Safety

We sell a number of Ford Rangers to first-time drivers. For that reason, ask one of our team members about Ford MyKey. Ford MyKey is a parental favorite that literally saves lives.

Ford MyKey, which comes standard on almost all Ford models, is a critical part of our commitment to keeping first-time drivers safe. MyKey is custom programmed with safety features you feel are most appropriate for your teenage driver. Those features include:

  • a safety belt reminder with repeating alarm
  • low fuel light that activates earlier, allowing more time for fuel-up
  • the ability to restrict vehicle speed
  • the option to set audio systems to a maximum volume of 45%

Whether you are a first-time driver or used to the road, the new driver-assist technologies available within the Ford Co-Pilot 360 System are beyond comparison. Showing further dedication to safety, this system is a lifesaver.

The following safety features (and more) are available with Ford Co-Pilot 360:

  • Pre-Collision Assist With Automatic Emergency Braking

Pre-Collision Assist uses in-car technology to scan the road ahead and alert you to potential collisions with vehicles or pedestrians it detects in your path.

  • BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert

It’s easy to see a car’s lights behind you in the dark, but if you worry about taking your eyes off the road in front of you to check behind you, the BLIS with Cross-Traffic alert can aid in their detection.

It’s active even when you’re not moving; radar systems on either side of your vehicle detect when a car is in your blind spot. A light on the corresponding side-view mirror alerts. *This system only detects motorized vehicles, not bikes, walkers, or other objects.*

Cross-Traffic Alert warns you a moving car is coming from either side when you’re backing up with three alerts: a light in the corresponding side-view mirror, a chime, and a message in the message center.

  • Evasive Steering Assist

This available feature can help make it easier to avoid a potential collision. It does not steer for you, but it provides steering support if the system warning goes off and you need to maneuver around the vehicle ahead.

  • Lane-Keeping System

This feature keeps you in your lane, especially in a moment of distraction, by constantly scanning your positioning within your lane and alerting you should you deviate from it.

Whether you are buying for a first-time driver or you need off-road capabilities, the Ford Ranger has to be seen and felt and driven to be believed. Let one of our team members at Mohawk Ford on Upper James Street in Hamilton put you in the driver’s seat today!
